Geraldine Johansen
Geraldine Inez Johansen, 95, died July 16, 2010, at the Hearthstone in York.

Mrs. Johansen was born June 10, 1915, at Bruning to Charles Jacob and Florence (Patraw) Casper.

She graduated from Bruning Public School in 1933.

She married Frederick Carl Johansen on June 21, 1933, at the Bruning Methodist Church.

The Johansens lived and farmed north of Friend in Seward County.

In the mid-1970's they moved into Friend and retired.

Mrs. Johansen enjoyed cooking, canning and playing cards.

She was a member of the Friend United Methodist Church and was a charter member of the Grange 390, and was one of the motivating committee to earn the National Designation and earned money for the Grange Hall. She was a member of the Friend Rebekah Lodge, the Laugh-A-Lot Club and the Friend Country Club.

Mrs. Johansen was preceded in death by her husband Fred; sisters Bernice Casper, Thelma Casper, Barbara Hodek and Ruth Janouch; and brother Charles Casper.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law David and Bonnie Johansen, York, and Richard and Joanne Johansen, Mesquite, Nev.; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Service was July 20, 2010, the Friend United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paixao Baptista officiating.

Burial was at Andrew Cemetery.

Casketbearers were Michael, Kent and Tom Johansen, Renee Quast, Nancy King, Diane Baker and Kent Trenkle.
