| 7/28/2010 11:07:00 AM | Email this article Print this article | Wynona Harris Wynona Mae (Colvert) Harris, 85, died July 20, 2010, at Mt. Carmel Home in Kearney.
Mrs. Harris was born Oct. 18, 1924, on a farm south of Friend to Harry Gerhardt and Clara Emma Theresa (Mullner) Kleinholz.
She attended District 50 country school and graduated from Friend High School in 1942.
Mrs. Harris attended the National Business Institute in Lincoln.
She married John Colvert on May 25, 1947, at the Friend Methodist Church.
The Colverts lived in Lincoln. She worked at several Lincoln businesses including IBEW Union from which she retired. She also worked at Martin Senior Paint, Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles, Stephenson School Supply and ithe Elgin Watch factory.
She later married Peter Harris on April 5, 1990, at St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Lincoln.
Mrs. Harris was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Lincoln where she was a member of the noon United Methodist Women. She was a former member of the Friend United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Women's Board of Bryan Hospital, American Legion Auxiliary, StoneCraft Ministries and Women's Connection, Order of Eastern Star Columbia Chapter 275 and Kensington Eastern Star.
She enjoyed Nebraska football, Valentino's pizza, dancing, traveling and taking cruises.
Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her husbands John and Pete; granddaughter Heather; brother Leroy Kleinholz; and nephew Jim Kleinholz.
Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law Jerry and Debbi Colvert, Kearney, and Terry Colvert, Lincoln; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; stepson Steve and Brenda Harris, Lincoln; two stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; sister-in-law Mariann Kleinholz, Carpenter, Wyo.; a niece and a nephew.
Service was July 26, 2010, at St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Lincoln with the Rev. Dennis Hanneman officiating.
Burial was at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chad Colvert, Todd Brennan, Larry Fox, Ray Bissey, Gary Crawford and Roger Soucie.
Memorials may be made to Mt. Carmel Home, Kearney.
