Seward County Gives - Monday

The Lunch on the Lawn for Seward County Gives has moved to Tuesday, May 7, from 11a to 1p. This event is a chance for people to visit with the various organizations on the list for the Seward County Gives grants.

Clubs bring Imagination Library to Seward

The children of Seward County will benefit from the new literacy program for children 0-5, as the Seward Rotary Club and the Seward Kiwanis Club have teamed up to be co-sponsors of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library for young children of Seward County.
The official kick-off of the program will be Thursday, May 16, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the lower level of the Seward Memorial Library.

SHS Skills USA chapter named top in state
Competing for SHS in the Teamworks division at SkillsUSA were Nic Classen, Kohlytn Lindau, Jadyn Nelson and Evett Howe.

Seward was the Top Performing Chapter for the 19th straight year and earned 56 medals, eight team trophies and had 23 national qualifiers at the state SkillsUSA competition.
Evett Howe ended his state officer candidacy and Landan Waegli was a newly elected state officer. Jadyn Nelson received the Nebraska Trucking Scholarship.

Gregory takes helm of Milford cafe

With the selling of Dragonfly Cafe in Milford, Family and Consumer Science Teacher Mallory Gregory decided to buy the business and take it over. Gregory said she’s always wanted to own a coffee shop/bakery business. Read more in the Independent and Milford Times.

Seward High will present its academic honors tonight starting at 7p in the theater.

TUESDAY - Tai Chi in Milford

Join Tai Chi classes on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. at the Milford Senior Center. Enhance your muscle strength, flexibility, balance and aerobic conditioning.

TUESDAY - Seward city council meets

The Seward City Council will meet Tuesday, May 7, at 7p. Among the agenda items are updates on the Bradford Street storm sewer project, the wellness center and Highway 15 construction.

CU advances to GPAC championship game

Concordia baseball needed the "if necessary" game May 4 to beat Midland 9-1 and advance to the GPAC championship game. CU will host Doane Tuesday, May 7, at 6 p.m. at Plum Creek Park. CU lost the first game on Saturday 7-5.

Malcolm wins district title

The Malcolm baseball team beat Guardian Angels Central Catholic/West Point Beemer 15-0 in the district championship game May 3. Mason Wisnieski hit a grand slam in the second inning for the Clippers. Malcolm advances to the Class C state tournament and will play Wayne Saturday, May 11, at 6:30p in Elkhorn.

Bulldogs win 11th GPAC title

The Concordia women's track team had to come from behind May 4 to win its 11th consecutive conference title. The 4x400-meter relay picked up the win in the last event to give CU the edge. The men's team finished third in the team standings.

The funeral service for Terry Bartholomew will be this morning at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward. A private committal will be at Tamora Cemetery in Tamora. Arrangements by Volzke Funeral Home.
