Honorable Judge Alan G. Gless, a devoted father, and respected member of the Seward community, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2024, at the age of 74.

Born on March 21, 1950, Alan was the son of Frank and Vivian Gless. He was a native of Schuyler,  where he attended high school and graduated as valedictorian. Alan pursued his passion for education and music; participating in the Cornhusker marching band, graduating with honors from the University of Nebraska, and then going on to complete his degree in Law in 1975, setting the stage for a successful career as a county and district judge. Beyond his professional achievements, Alan’s true passions were writing about the history of Nebraska law and coaching his kids' basketball teams for many years.

Alan is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Francis Gless, Richard Gless, and Darryl Gless.

Survivors cherishing his memory include his children, Kathleen Gless and partner, Jimmy Esguerra of Ormond Beach, Florida, Karel, and wife, Talia Gless of Irvine, California; grandchildren, Salvacíon and Kaiya Verstraeten-Gless, Nava, Micah and Mila Gless; sister, Valerie Gless; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

A graveside service and inurnment were April 27 at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Nebraska College of Law. Arrangements by Zabka-Perdue Funeral Home.
