Summer fun at Seward Bowl

Summer in Seward is in full swing, and Seward Bowl and Sparetime Lounge are keeping their fun alive.

VFW honors SMS teacher

In mid May Seward Middle School music teacher Jill Bisbee received the District 9 VFW Teacher of the Year award which local VFW member Lucas Brown presented. Bisbee was forwarded to the District 9 committee, and she was selected as the winner there, too, which includes 10 different VFW posts.

Rental assistance program providing local relief

The Nebraska Emergency Rental Assistance program has given out thousands in rent, utilities and internet to local people in need. Read the July 10 edition of the Seward County Independent to hear about how much assistance has been given in the county, where the biggest need has been and the impact it has made.

EVENTS

TOMORROW - Come for tea with first responders

A Saturday morning tea July 6 will honor Seward's first responders. The GFWC Seward Women's Club will host the event, which includes speakers and honoring all first responders in attendance, at 10 a.m. at the Nebraska National Guard Museum.

TOMORROW - Farmers market open for business

The Seward Farmers Market will be open Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at the Seward County Fairgrounds, east of the horseshoe pits.

SUNDAY - Band concert

The Seward Municipal Band will play its weekly concert Sunday, July 7, at 7:30 p.m. at the bandshell. In case of inclement weather, check the band's Facebook page or Seward Community Chat for changes in venue.

FUNERAL SERVICES

HAGEMOSER, Bonnie

Visitation for Bonnie Hagemoser will be Sunday, July 7, from 1-8:30 p.m. at Zabka-Perdue Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. The celebration of life will be Monday, July 8, at 11 a.m. at the Seward United Methodist Church.
