Representatives from the cities of Milford and Seward will be prepared to answer questions and explain their budgets at the county’s “Pink Postcard Hearing” on Monday, Sept. 23.
The hearing will convene at 7 p.m. at the Seward County Fairgrounds’ Harvest Hall.

The Seward County Chamber & Development Partnership will host its annual Farm to Table Culinary Experience Sunday, Sept. 22, from 4 – 6 p.m. at The Dairy @ Seward, located at 2484 McKelvie Road, Seward. The event will feature a variety of food samples and beverages provided by local restaurants and chefs from across Seward County. There will also be a live music performance from local band Boondox. The Seward area’s prisoners of war will be recognized with a program at the Nebraska National Guard Museum in Seward on Friday, Sept. 20, in recognition of National Prisoners of War (POW) Day. The day will feature exhibits honoring local veterans who were POWs and offer family focused presentations on them by family and friends.
There will be two programs on Friday, Sept. 20, at 10 a.m. and at 1:30 p.m. The events are free and open to the public. A reception and complimentary refreshments will follow the presentation. Concordia University will have a no-longer-needed furniture and random stuff sale on Friday, Sept. 20, from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. The sale will be in the lower level of Jesse Hall in the center of campus. Half of the proceeds will go to support Concordia students going on mission outreach trips this coming year.
Programs for adults are planned at the Seward Memorial Library every Friday from 1:30 – 3 p.m. First Friday, Ten Point Pitch. Second Friday, Bingo. Third Friday, crafts. Fourth Friday, puzzles. Tomorrow is the third Friday of September.

Carrie Gottschalk will give a presentation on phobias, a subject referenced in “The Reading List,” the All Seward Reads Together book, on Sunday, Sept. 22, at 2 p.m. at the Seward Memorial Library. Gottschalk is a licensed mental health therapist and the program is designed to provide practical knowledge about phobias and strategies to support overcoming them (for yourself and others).
A social gathering of veterans dedicated to reducing and eliminating veteran suicide will be from 7 – 9 p.m. at the VFW, 243 S. Ninth St., in Seward. The group meets monthly on the 22nd.

The funeral service for Sally Manzer will be today, Sept. 20, at noon at Seger Funeral Home in Atkinson. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Atkinson, followed by interment at the church cemetery.
