The Malcolm Legion Post 354 juniors defeated Sutton 12-4 yesterday to win the Class C Area 4 tournament. Brixon Meyer got the win on the mound, pitching all five innings and striking out five. He was also 3-4 at the plate with a double and drove in three runs. Carson Frank added two RBIs, and Chase Smith was 2-3 with a double. The Class C state tournament starts July 20 at Hartington.
The Seward Post 33 ZKE Storage juniors came up just short against ETC yesterday in the Class B Area 4 tournament, losing 4-3. Both teams scored all their runs in the fifth inning. Kyle Riley was 3-3 for Seward, and Kayson Salyer drove in two runs.
