Elizabeth “Liz” Ann (McGuinness) Koch was born July 18, 1944, to John and Helen McGuinness in York.

She grew up on a farm near Ulysses. She attended country school through the seventh grade and then went to school in Ulysses. Liz attended Seward High School, graduating in 1962. Following graduation, she moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, and worked for a bank for two years.

She then returned to Seward and met David. On Jan. 14, 1968, Elizabeth was united in marriage to Jacob David Koch in Seward. To this union were born two sons, Jeff and Jason. Liz worked at the Video Shop and House of Davisson. However, her favorite job was that of wife and mother. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting, sewing, cake baking/decorating and quilting. Elizabeth passed away July 19, 2024, in Seward, at the age of 80.

She is survived by her sons, Jeff (Trixie) Koch of Lincoln, and Jason (Kendra) Koch of Lincoln; granddaughter, Katy Koch; special niece, Tammy (Dan) Hempe; nephews, Joe Primm, Dan Primm, Jon Primm and Steve Primm; special friends, Linda Ehrlich and Stephanie Nantkes. Liz is preceded in death by her parents, John and Helen McGuinness and husband, Dave Koch; brothers, Robert Badgley, Donald McGuinness and Patrick McGuinness; and sisters, Audrey Ditmars and Jeanette Criner.

A graveside service will be Monday, July 29, at the Seward Cemetery. Arrangements by Volzke Funeral Home.
