Mildred J. Heyen was born Sept. 21, 1926, south of Milford to Daniel and Alta (Eash) Hershberger and passed away Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2024, at the Sunrise Country Manor, rural Milford.

She was the fourth of six children. Mildred, or “Millie,” attended Milford Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1944. After high school, she worked at Russell Stovers in Lincoln. She married Boyd Heyen on April 17, 1948. Boyd and Millie moved to the family farm where Boyd was born in 1950. They farmed and lived at the “home place” for over 60 years, where they raised two sons, Rob and Todd.

Mildred was a member of Milford United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Seward VFW #4755 Auxiliary for many years. She enjoyed making crafts and was an avid gardener.

Millie is survived by her son, Rob Heyen, Milford and his children Ashlea and Elianna Heyen; son, Todd Heyen of Seward and his children, Jesse, Trentyn (April), and Brandy Heyen; great-grandchildren, Adriannah "Sunshine" and Kayden, Ella Mohnick, Gideyn Robert Boyd Heyen, Coltyn (Jocelyn) Vajgrt, and Harley Heyen; great-great grandchildren, Bentley, Jovie, and Paislee Vajgrt and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Boyd; sisters, Geraldine Koci and Marlyne Hershberger; brothers, Marlin, Lawrence and Lyle Hershberger.

Visitation will be from 2 – 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at the Lauber Funeral Home in Milford The funeral services will be Friday, Sept. 6, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home in Milford, with burial at the Blue Mound Cemetery, Milford.
