City keeps moving with projects

Some communities joke that they plant construction cones instead of flowers, but Seward took that saying to heart in 2024 with multiple major city construction projects happening simultaneously. Read more about the projects in the Sept. 18 Independent.

County lowers tax asking

TODAY - Guest speaker at CU

Dr. William J. Purkis will speak at Thom Auditorium at Concordia University at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17. His talk is “The Greatest Lies? Devotion to Relics of the Christ in Medieval Latin Christianity.” It is free and open to the public. There will be time for questions and answers following the talk. He is Professor of Medieval History at University of Birmingham, United Kingdom.

TOMORROW - Crossword tips

Fred Ohles, a puzzle designer for the Lincoln Journal Star and other publications, will talk about how he designs puzzles and offer tips for solving them. The program will be Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 1 p.m. at Chapters Books and Gifts in Seward.

TOMORROW - Movie at SML

A veterans coffee will be every Wednesday from 7:30 – 9:30-ish at the Spare Time Lounge in Seward.

TOMORROW - Yoga in Utica

Chair yoga will be offered Wednesdays and Fridays at 12:10 p.m. at the Utica Senior Center. There is no class the third Wednesday of the month.

TOMORROW - Farmer's market open Wednesday

The Seward Farmers Market will be open Wednesday, Sept. 18, from 5-7 p.m. at the Seward County Fairgrounds. The hamburger stand will be hosted by the Seward United Methodist Church Godparent Group.

The family will receive friends from 4-5 p.m. Divine Mercy Chaplet will begin at 5 p.m. Graveside service and interment will be Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Primrose, NE.
