Workers on Seward’s Highway 15 project are making major changes at the Hillcrest intersection this week, and circling back to the Seward Street intersection to complete work delayed until the arrival of new traffic signals. Read more about the project in the Sept. 11 Independent.

Light bulbs draw attention to Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

If you see a purple porch light this month, it’s for a good cause. September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, and the Seward County Suicide Prevention Coalition has purple light bulbs available to draw attention to the cause. Find out more in the Sept. 11 SCI.

An opportunity to learn how to macrame will be Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 6:30 – 7:45 p.m. at the Seward Memorial Library. Macrame is done without the use of specialized tools, just using your hands to weave wonderful creations. Registration is required so call (402) 643-3318 to reserve a spot.

TOMORROW - Senior Center fundraiser

The fundraiser for the Milford Senior Center will be Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pasta with sauce, garlic bread, salad bar, dessert and a drink will be served for $10. The public is invited.

TOMORROW - Women's club meets

The GFWC Seward Woman’s Club will kick-off its 125th club year with a special membership drive. Prospective members are welcome to attend the first meeting of the club year on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 1:30 p.m. in the lower meeting room at the Seward Memorial Library. The meeting will feature a presentation by Seward High youth leaders who attended the Nebraska HOBY Seminar and a review by Angela Belew, this year’s Nebraska GFWC LEAD representative at the National GFWC Convention.

A veterans coffee will be every Wednesday from 7:30 – 9:30-ish at the Spare Time Lounge in Seward.

The Seward Farmers Market will be open Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 5-7 p.m. at the Seward County Fairgrounds. The hamburger stand will be hosted by the Star Struck Dance Academy.
